Hi folks. Welcome to Speedy Sticks Trains. We are a virtual railway based in southern England, UK.

Our aim is to get an ever-expanding railway network of Southern England. We will start around the Connex network and in particular the London Victoria to Brighton section (this is still subject to approval so stay tuned for more news).

For those of you who are unfamiliar with this route I can tell you that it is a mixture of urban landscapes with relatively low speed limits through to wide open countryside with quadruple mainline track with a maximum speed of up to 100mph.

Speedy Sticks trains will be using the latest in high technology trains over these routes.  As you can see on the announcements page we are in talks with Adtranz the manufacturer, and we should be taking delivery of brand new Turbostars and Electrostars soon. So keep watching! Here are what the trains look like with our temporary livery designed by James S Welling.

Virtual Railroads

Virtual Railroads are a new phenomena that have come about in the last few months with the news of the upcoming game Microsoft Train Simulator, (see below). Our Virtual Railway or VR as they’re known was the first and most original on the net and we have kept evolving and improving since our launch back in August. Our VR will open to its members a few weeks after the launch of Train Simulator. This is because we need time to build our route and you need time to get acquainted with the game.

At the moment details are still being finalised about our VR but here is a rough plan: We aim to have rosters for all the staff so that you know what you are supposed to be doing and when you should work. Remember this is all a bit of fun and by joining you are in no way obliged to work the hours in your shift. At the end of the week you can report your hours to the web site and compete against other drivers.

How to become a member

So you’ve read all this and you’re wondering how to become a member. Well all you have to do is click the “Join Now” button and you too can be involved in the most original and first VR on the net.

A bit about the game

Microsoft Train Simulator is a new game that is being released worldwide in late May/early June 2001. It brings a new concept to train driving sims which until now have been of poor quality and had bad graphics. A full list of features can be obtained by going to Trainsim.org.uk. Speedy Sticks Trains will be using Train Simulator to its full potential and making strong use of its included route editor to make our own routes which you can then drive.

More news and information can be found in the “news” section of this site. Also refer to the “links” section if you want some more sites that tell you about the game.

Don’t forget to keep checking back regularly.
