Genetic Alliance conference in Washington, D.C, 2001
I recently attended the Genetic Alliance conference in Washington, D.C. The conference was a celebration of the mapping of the human genome. The discussions were wide-ranging; including discussion of the promise this technology holds for those suffering from genetic disorders and also the battle for legislation that will effectively protect individual's genetic
information from insurance companies, employers, etc. I was able to speak
with a few people involved with non-profit groups and get some information in that regard. I also had the pleasure of spending some time with Tera and Marcia of TFL and also with Trish of the National Coalition and Sarah, an adult living with PKU. It was an informative and enjoyable weekend. If you've never had a look at the Alliance's website, please visit
