"Sessions here in Israel take place in Tel Aviv at a pub called "Gordon Inn" about once every two weeks. We are a small, but dedicated group of musicians
here, and some of us perform professional bands. There is a lot of mutual
respect and friendliness among us, despite the fact that we are competing for a
limited music market!
There has been more and more of a demand for Irish music here, and we are
definitely "on the map" - Dervish was here for two concerts in June, and I
think Solas is due to play here in November.
My band, "Irish Cream", is one of four Celtic bands here in Israel. There is
also a band called "Black Velvet" which has been around for a long time, and
which has undergone many changes. The other bands are "The Celtic Camel" or
otherwise known as "Kachol" which is Hebrew for "Blue", and a smaller, rather
classical oriented trio known as "Ever Green". Kachol and possible "Black
Velvet" have websites, I'm not sure of the URLs.
