Contact Phone number, (your cell phone if you like)
Directions to the start (assuming out of towners may show up)
Lets also continue to update the local police in the area that we are in as well:
Dispatch (Non-Emergency Numbers)
Savannah City 232-4141
Chatham County 652-6500
Tybee Island 786-5600
Garden City 966-7770
Pooler 748-7012
Port Wenthworth 964-4360
Please call them on the working shift that we are running on, prior to the start:
Tell them your name, our groups name, i.e. Savannah Hash House Harriers -
a Running Club In Savannah (Best description for us to give them),
Advise them that this is a courtesy call, that we will be running
within a 3 mile area from (such a place and such a place or name of an
area like Tybee or Wilmington Island; We don't need to tell them
where we are starting from, they don't need that much information)
Tell them the times you expect us to be out running; and that we will be
using flour and chalk to mark trail. Once in a while they get confused, thinking
that we are asking for traffic assistance, assure them again that this is just a courtesy
call. Give them your phone number, ask for their name.
For times that we use Toilet Paper, lets have the last couple of people on trail, pick up as much of it as reasonable. I've seen several people in our group do this in the past, that is a great way of being respectful to the area that we are in.
The locations that we go to: should NOT INCLUDE areas marked "No Trespassing" or Private Properties without prior permission from the land owners.
Most rivers, marshes, power line areas, train tracks, pipe fitters canals and streets are considered public.
Bring a receipt as required for reimbursement from RV
for the beer if the need arises. Sorry, the Hash does not pay for
premiums or water, flour or ice, at this time. Although, the cost for water may
come up for discussion as it does get warm here in the summer.
If you would like your trail to have a theme, tell us what you want
it to be early enough and we'll be there with Bells On, or skirts, or
whatever the hell you can think up.
