I'm just a good ole collector living up here in NE Ohio area. I run a business with my mother, who is really into gemstones and sells them. I also run my own groups page:
http://groups.msn.com/WorldofArtifacts
. Please visit both and let me know what you think. I collect fossils, artifacts, and all types of display and rough gems and minerals.

I am a new member, just joined 7/29/02, my friend "rockncook" has had a lot of praise for the site, its manager, and all of the "hounds". I am very new at this. But I thought, " just because you are a 60 year old GrandMom, doesnt mean you cant start" Rocking with the Hounds". I will enjoy chatting and gathering all the information I can for my new hobby. If anyone knows of any good sites in my area, please let me know.

Somewhat an old timer at the hobby. Generally trade for roocks with rockhounds world over. There are only industrial minerals in our region, and fossils. I do a bit of everything in lapidary and also do wood intarsia and carving in wood and stone. Have a fairly broad collectiopn of gem, and mineral material.

Collecting minerals for more than 45 years and now being retired as a psychologist in charge with ahndicapped children and their communicationaldisorders, I now finally find the possibility to exchange ideas, experiences and possibly exchanging first class minerals from all over the world. I am especially interested in wulfenite, pyromorfite, rhodochrosite, etc. especially when they are in good shape and condition. I am offering cabinet pieces from most European locastions, especially from Eastern Europe and England.
Who wants to give it a try ?
Looking forward to any reply, I guarentee a solid respons anyway.

Rocks: Finding, identifying, and collecting.
imstillcool437@aol.com
I joined this group, mainly to gleen information from, collectors who have gained
knowlege through their own discoveries, and hopefully help me to gain some skills in
Finding, collecting, and identifying rocks on my own property.
I live in rural PA, on a partly wood, and partly grass property, consisting of approximately 425 acres. I have been finding a lot of semi clear rock like crystals, and have became fascinated with them, and would like to learn more. It seems like my place is heavily populated with these! (I believe i have faeries in my garden, due to the amount of crystals i have found this past summer)

I moved to Connecticut from California in 1996 and have been slowly discovering what this region has to offer in the way of collecting opportunities. I'm always interested in finding new specimens for my collection. I have successfully interested my two young children (5 and 9) in collecting and thus I am especially interested in locales that are child accessible. We travel quite a bit so I am also interested in hearing of collecting sites around the country and internationally. I have recently built an area in my house for displaying my collection and am currently in the process of unboxing years worth of collecting, cleaning the specimens, labeling them, and putting them on display. As a result I am also likely to look to this site for tips on preparing specimens for display. In addition to what I hope to get from this site, I hope I can be of service to others as well.

Mauritius, an island in the Indian Ocean

feb2u9d5s@hotmail.com
I am a new member from Mauritius, an island in the Indian Ocean. Mauritius being new (geologically speaking) it does not have much in minerals, only things easy to find are rocks, corals, & shells. Rocks there are various types, basalt ( mainly), the light type( pumice), & even a green type of rock I found once.
There are probably other types as well, that I don`t know about.
I hope to be able to make some friends here who are willing to share their knowledge about rocks & minerals & help me into this new collecting hobby.
I am a novice in this subject.
I do collect other items, phonecards ( from some countries), stamps of my country.
Thanks to all.

Collecting at least one of every mineral/gemstone/fossil on earth...
Msongy7777@msn.com
I have been a serious rock collector since I was a child, and should have been an archeologist, missed my calling...problem I have nowis that there are very few minerals available to dig in Louisiana, some opal, scarce since the oil company closed off the site, some petrified palm wood, and halite crystals are down on the gulf coast, however, Arco won't let you in there to dig either. I purchase most of my gemstones online through ACNTV.com. They have an auction and sell some rough and many cut stones. I collect all that I can afford to. My favorites are rutile quartz, garnets, tourmaline and zoisite. I am looking for some Kyanite rough, and hope to go to Arkansas in Nov. to hunt for diamonds and crystals. I find all rocks, minerals and fossils fascinating. I have one large fabulous fossil, an Eparietite (Ammonite,) from the Jurassic Period. Found it last May at Lake Texoma on the Oklahoma side. Would love to visit with others who share my obsession.

Just wanted to let fellow rockhounds know if your're ever out in the rocky mountain area give me
a jingle, have many friends and knowmany sites which yield excellent smokies, barites, marcasite, pyrites,
fluorites, and many lead based minerals. Will post some of the pyrites, fluorites, galenas, etc. I've collected
in the last few years using a 3 lb sledge, numerous chisels, and of course accompanied by a few cold beers.
