Phan Rang, Tuy Hoa, Phan Thiet, Dak To (Kontum Providence), Cher Rio, MAC V (Central Highlands) -- Lovely place to visit.  

December 65:  Being kicked out of San Francisco, CA.  The warm welcome given by the people of Seattle at the Sea/Tac Air Terminal.  Missing Christmas 1965.  Losing it some where of the Pacific between Ancorage, AK and Japan.  Arriving in Japan at 2am on the 26th and departing Japan at 2am on the 27th.  Arriving in Viet Nam with one big hangover, and not being able to get a beer.

I was a navy corpsman, served with various units of 3/12 and 2/4(?)

MMMAF, Da Nang. up and down Yankee/Dixie Stations.

After all is said and done I miss the friendship from there, but we are the ones that have make our memories last for the next generation to have for history.

Quang Tri, Dong Ha Combat Base, Gia Lihn Fire Base, Cam Lo, Rockpile

Army Forward Observer, assigned to 1st/3rd Marines (Dong Ha) for patrols. Worked the area North of the DMZ for 16 months with squads from Dong Ha, Quang Tri; and with units from Saigon and Da Nang. Worked into Cambodia/Laos for 14 months with various intelligence units and Marine snipers.

From ft. bliss(basic) out to ft. ord california(infantry training). left for Nam. in sept. 1969. arrived at Cam Rah bay. From there to Chu Lia,Americal Div. From here I went to LZ pro. landing zone, Tien Phuoc, Hau Duc, Tam Ky.  I was wounded In April,1970. stepped on booby trap and thats about all I can remember until I was back In the states. I was living In New Braunfels, Tex . than, Now I live In Ft. Worth, Tx., 5339 Wonder DR. 76133. My Ph: 817-361-8045

Quan Loi, Song Be, Bien Hoa

Began Vietnam tour in Phu Tai and moved to Qui Nhon with about a month and a half to go. Served in the Army for a total of 9 1/2 years in Germany (twice), Hunter Army Airfied, Ft Knox and four years with the First Cav at Fort Hood, TX.

100% VA disabled (PTSD). Am looking for any photos of the traffic circle in downtown Qui Nhon. There was a park with a fountain in the center ofthat traffic circle. I now paint as part of my ptsd therapy and have been instructed to paint a scene of that park by my docs. If you can help out, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks and welcome home.

 

Hue and thereabouts with C-1-1 as TDY sniper

My grunting with 2-9 was not bad as we were stateside together and went in together via beach landing July 1965.

 

After sniper training and subsequent reassignment to c-1-1 things were really bad.  They were mostly green and dangerous to be around.

 

Christmas 1965 was some bad stuff.  Didn't know anyone well and didn't care to.  I just did my job and stayed away from the troops.  Been doing that for 30+ years now and trying to change at age 54 is a challenge.

 

Now you guys...I can relate to.  Welcome home and Semper fi to all you devildogs.

Married a Viet Nam vet who i knew from field reports (Border Buster 27) meet him 6 months after viet nam, a more gentle man there never was.  Married now 29yrs come November past.

its hard to believe its been so many yrs since i talked to you boys on the Prc 25 or ACR48. I only wish i could have given you boys more intel. before sending you out.

I don't really know where he served because he doesn't talk much about it.  I know he became a crew chief rather quickly and I've seen pictures of him flying a helicopter. 

I'm looking for anyone that might know him and could tell me a little about his time over there.  He didn't even see me for the first time until he got back and so far as I can tell it was too late by then.

Sep 70 -Jun 71, Nha Trang

Jun 71 - Sep 71, Pleiku

Served as liason to CG II Corp. daily briefings on activity acquired. Watched the CG's position get down graded from a two star, to one star, to Col. to Civilian Advisor. By June 71 he was shutteling between Nha Trang and Pleiku to keep up with the activity. At that time I was sent to Pleiku to establish a liason office to brief him when he was there. The year was very enlightening for me, and the most rewarding of my career. I know I helped to save many  of our boys, but only my commrads at the time will ever know how. I am thankful for my safe return as well as all of our brothers. God bless the families of those who did not return, and watch over their souls.

I was wounded on the 29th day of March 1971. If anyone has any information concerning the overrunning of my unit on  the above mentioned date, it sure would be helpful to me to know.I was at Dong Ha, when I was hurt. I need as much info as I can get. As the info I have is very little.
