"The Planets"By Gustav Holst. This one is only natural. Wonderful symphony, even inspired John Williams when he was composing music for "Star Wars". While the work really aims at the classic astrological 'planets', the music itself can fit the mood for any number of occasions. I especially love "Venus" when doing deep sky. Incidentally, there is a John Williams version afloat out there. Recommended by Astro_Rob1, 6/30/2005.

Any Enya AlbumBy Enya. This is light background music that will help set a relaxed mood for either yourself or guests who are using your telescope. Keep the volume low, but easily audible. Recommended by Dracô, 4/30/2002.

Celtic WomanBy Manhattan Records. Featured Video on PBS in April 2005, and CD is available at Target in May 2005...listed in "C" section. Great vocals by four Irish ladies and one fine fiddler..."Walking in the Air", Orinoco Flow, The Soft Goodbye are my special favorites for star parties, but all are good and very listenable. If you can get the DVD, the lighting effects are wonderful in the Helix Theatre in Dublin. Recommended by WayneWooten, 5/7/2005.

Darkside of the MoonBy Pink Floyd. You gotta admit this is the best! Recommended by StarBill , 6/3/2003.

Flight PathBy John Serrie. I have played this at previous Ft. Pickens' gazes. Adds a nice touch to deep skyobservations. Recommended by stargazerbubba , 6/7/2002.

GalaxiesBy Kevin Braheny. Kevin Braheny was the composer for Hanson Planetarium when Timothy Ferris produced this beautiful planetarium show. The first showing of this new program premiered at Pensacola Junior College's Science and Space Theatre in 1992. This CD is the musical soundtrack, and it makes an awesome background for deep sky observation and public gazes. EAAA member Jerry Kobi generally had the cassette version playing during public stargazes. Recommended by Dracô, 4/30/2002.

Harvest MoonBy Neil Young. Most of Neil Young's music is considered "Folk Rock", but this song stands out as a nice tune to listen to with your significant other while outside under the stars. :-) Recommended by MikeDavey , 5/4/2002.

Music to RelaxBy Various Artists. Kitaro has some gentle music that will make you feel very relaxed, but if you mix your own CD, you will want to include some of his high energy music so you don't go to sleep. If you want to include some natural sounds in relaxing music, you can use Serenity-Ultimate in Relaxation: The Pond. If you want calming nature music, frogs work better than wolves. The Best of Ray LynchBy . The music of Ray Lynch is generally classified as "New Age." It often has a "spacey" quality, and can set a nice, relaxing mood whileyou are in that cramped position trying to get that hand-guided astrophoto that you want. There is enough variation to make it interesting. Immersing yourself in Ray Lynch may induce meditation. Recommended by Dracô, 5/23/2002.

The Book of SecretsBy Loreena McKennit. The CD, "the Book of Secrets" works great for stargazes. " The Mummer's Dance " was the oft-played number, but "Night Ride across the Caucasus", "Dante's Prayer", and with the Moon occasionally covered by clouds, "The Highwayman" can be especially moving. The Music Of CosmosBy Vangelis. This was just re-issued on CD in 2000. Very nice! Recommended by MikeDavey , 6/9/2002.
