Contact

By Carl Sagan.
Carl died during the filming, but Jodie Foster does a wonderful job of sharing some of the challenge and excitement that can accompany astronomers in their never-ending search for "what's out there".  Available on VHS at Target for under $10, and as a DVD for under $15, and also easy to rent anywhere.

Starman

By Starring Main Character: Jeff Bridges.
This movie poses some interesting questions for discussion regarding extraterrestrial life and the kinds of life forms planets of different masses and solar influences might have.

There is a great view of Barringer crater featured in the film.

Sunshine

By .

I thought you might be interested in a quick review of the new movie "Sunshine". It is a story about the trials of a group of young astronauts in the year 2057, who are trying to revive our dying Sun by injecting a bunch of atom bombs into the core. They struggle against mission saboteurs.

Scientifically its basic premise is nonsense, but the action keeps you on the edge of your seat. Pretty good action photos of the Sun are shown, and when you walk outside after the show, it doesn't seem so hot.

If you are a sci-fi buff and you like Star Wars, you'll love this one.

Check it out!!!
