Mullins Old and Young. What gets me. My husband and I have worked most of our lives. He almost died and I stayed home to care for him. He had a brain aneurysm and was like a child for many years. I lost my work credits staying home to care for him. He was like a 5 year old. Because I stayed home with him I lost my work credits and cannot get ssdi. After he got well enough for me to work, I got sick. I need 2 knee replacements. Dr. would not do it till I turned 55.in July of 2006 I got breast cancer. (Happy birthday to me, I turned 54 that month) While under treatment for breast cancer they wont do knee replacements so have to wait 5 more years till treatment is over. Right now I have no insurance. We have gone through our savings staying a float. My husband has Medicare and on his Medicaid we have to pay 230 a month before it kicks in. we had to sell our home in hermitage, Tn because it cost too much for us to keep. We broke even after the move to Anderson. You no a little about us now. My grip is that women who are married lose because if we take care of our family we lose work credits. , We lose insurance. We live in poverty later in life. Each day I thank god I am alive but wonder what I did so wrong in life to have to live like this. New laws need to be passed to take care of people who fall between ever crack. I fell pride has been stripped from me. I would not do anything different then what I have done. I will always put God ahead of me and will always take care of my family as long as I live. When you vote don’t forget one day you will get older and you might have health problems.
