Prophetic of the Tribes of Israel.
First lets take a look at Yakob's beginings.
About 1800 B.C
The Generations of Isaac.
The generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:
And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.
Now Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife because she was barren, and the Lord heard him
and Rebekah his wife conceived.
And the children struggled together within her, and she said, Why is it like this? So Rebekah went and prayed to the Lord.
And the LORD said to her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
The Birth of Esau & Yakob.
And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.
And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Yakob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.
Birthright for Sale...Huh?
Now check this ride, so they grew into fine young men, Esau being a cunning Hunter, a man of the wilderness, and Jacob was a plainsman, dwelling in tents, and dad of course favoured the first, being a man of the wilderness himself, but Rebekah loved Yakob.......
Anyway, one day Yakob was out making red pottage, and Esau came from the field, and he was tried and so hunger that he had lost his energy, and was ready to faint.
And Esau ask Yakob to feed him, for he was faint, and Yakob answered saying, "Sell me this day thy birthright."
And Esau said, "Behold, I am at the point to die, and what profit shall this birthright do to me?" And Yakob said, "Swear to me this day." And he sware unto him, and he sold his birthright to Yakob....So Yakob feed him....This is how Esau lost his Birthright, for the price of red pottage.
The blessing of Yakob.
And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.
And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed:
Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:
Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.
And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Yakob, and Yakob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son's venison, that thy soul may bless me.
And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.
And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.
Leah instead on Rachel...what???
And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.
Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.
And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.
And Laban said, It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me.
And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.
And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.
And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her.
And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.
And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?
And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.
So Yakob served Laban another 7 years, and fulfilled her week, and Rachel became his wife.
Abraham, Isaac &, Jacob(Yokab)
In 1739 B.C or there abouts according to ancient scripture, Yakob the son of Isaac was making his way to Bethel from Laban...
Esau had come out to meet him, he had with him 400 men, which had Yakob worried, so he split up his people into two groups, so if one got attacked the other could escape.
Then he prayed unto the Lord God, Gen.32v9-12, to be delivered from the hand of his brother Esua, cause Esua was still vexed with Yakob for stealing his blessing, coz he sold his birthright to Yakob for red pottage, thats how he got his name Edom, red.
So Yakob sent out gifts to Esau for peace.
That night he rose up and took his wives and children, and all his servants and passed over Jabbok, and he sent them over the brook.
Now Jacob is alone, and a man came and wrestled with him till the breaking of the new day, which would make wcw look like play sckool....
Anyway the man saw he could not prevail against him, so he touched the hollow of Yakob's thigh, putting it out of joint...but Yakob had a good hold on him, and the man said "Let go of me for the day breaketh". But Yakob would not, unless he would bless him.
So the man asked him his name, and Yakob told him.
"And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel,: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed." Gen32v28
so they departed, and Yakob...I mean, Israel named that place Peniel, "For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved."
