Dwarf Hamsters: A Complete Pet Owner's Manual
|
I like to use this book as a quick reference since I've never had a dwarf hamster. It's a fairly detailed book and is especially useful in determining the differences that exist between the different species of dwarfs commonly kept as pets. The book has clear pictures and much useful information for the new hamster owner. Highly recommended!

Okay. I'll admit it. I only bought this book because of its beautiful, huge, glossy photos of hamsters! :-)

Hamsters for Dummies

I really did not like this book. Aside from having two syrians on the front cover that are ready to fight... Some of the information was OK and some was absolutely awful.
This book is exclusivle at Petco
This book is 90 pages black and white.

Hamsters in Sickness and Health
|
An excellent book, giving details of how to care for your pet whether its healthy or sick. It gives details of illnesses, and emergency treatment, whilst waiting to find an emergency vet.

Hamsters: Family Pet Series

Covers most topics very well as it was written by a veterinarian. There are a few details with which I disagree, though.

Hamsters: The Complete Guide to Keeping, Breeding and Showing
|
A book, every Syrian hamsterowner and/or breeder, should have at home. It covers almost anything on Syrian hamsters, especially the chapter about genetics. The only thing that's missing are pictures of the different coat types and colours.

If you know the author, who also runs Pet Web Site, you'll know that this is a book of reliable information. It's a great start for the novice hamster owner covering information related to just about any question that person would think to ask. Big, bright pictures and a well-organized format clearly make it a pleasure to use.

I, Houdini
|
I, Houdini is a fictional story of a hamster who is constantly escaping. What I like about this book that it is not like one of those books where two syrian hamsters are living together, but it also teaches in a way people not to put two hamsters together in a cage. It is a childrens book, but I think it is perfect for all ages!

A very good book with many interesting tips and lots of cute pictures. It's more of a general hamster book than the title implies. Lots of advice on how to keep your entertained!
