I got my hamster on the February 11, 2000. It's brown and has a black stripe down its back. I named him Jared though I'm still not sure if it is a he or a she. However, I'm sticking with the name Jared for the little fella. It all started from a friend of mine who keep telling us how cute her hamster is through e-mails...I was jealousy, and feeling kinda depressed and lonely that time. I asked my parents about getting one. They said "NO" So I decided to just tell my sister about it who is in the Washington D.C at that time. Few weeks later, she mailed me to tell she herself couldn't resist the temptation of the little creatures and got herself a white winter hamster. I was baffed, of course! So again I pestered my parents to get me one....they said they will think about it after I told them that there is a species of hamster called that dwarf hamsters. They thought there are only the golden hamsters which are larger.

 

So February 11 came, and dad took me to a pet shop to pick my companion for life. There Jared was curled in a ball. Scooping him up, awake with his small peering eyes as was trying to say,"Hey mind you I'm sleeping" but he couldn't be bother to see who is his new owner. So there jared was in a small box lying, sleeping soundly and will be waking up to a surprise that he is finally a friend to some lonely child.

 

Now, sleeping soundly again except at nights, playing frantically with his wheel!Still puzzled by his gender nor the species...which I'm guessing he is a chinese rat like as his tail is a bit longer that usual. Never the less...I still love him no matter what he does! My favorite activity with him is when he sits on my shoulder and cross to the other.

 

So i'm dedicating this story to my small fellow friend. I  you, Jared and thanks for being my pal.
