Day of the Field Trip
 
If you are inquiring for a school outing, the lecture will begin at approx. 8:15 A.M. at your school.  School outings will conclude around 1:00 P.M. due to the early start.  Please make sure your entire party arrives on time.  In the event you need to reach me on the date of the tour, you may call me on my cell at 815-207-1099.
 
Currently, Saturday lectures are held at the
Fossil Ridge Library located at 386 W. Kennedy Rd., Braidwood, IL.  The phone number is 815-458-2187.
 
Lectures held at Goose Lake Prairie Nature Center located on at Jugtown Road, in Morris, IL. will begin at 9:00 A.M. unless otherwise agreed.  The Nature Center's Phone number is
815-942-2899.
 
Please make sure your group arrives at the lecture location at least 15 minutes prior to the Introduction.
 
9:00 A.M. - 9:25 A.M.  Introduction/Presentation
9:25 - 9:45 Viewing of Video
945 - 10:00 Merchandise Sale/Gear up for departure
The site is approx. 10 miles south of the Library.
10:00 - 10:20 Travel time to location
10:20 - 12:00 P.M. Fossil Collect
12:00 - 12:30 Lunch Break/Answer questions
12:30 - 2:30 Fossil hand outs/Departure
 
 
The above itinerary may change due to weather conditions, hazards, or group participation.  If participants want to stay longer than given on the schedule, they are welcome, however, field guide may not be present past 2:30 P.M.
 
I will lecture the group about the geology and history of the area which is followed by a 20 minute video to introduce the participants to the field research.  This video will show you what to expect at the site as far as site conditions, do's and don'ts, and specimens associated with the site.  The video will also express the safety measures and joys of fossil collecting.
