AFTER SEPARATION
Steps to take immediately after separation staying within the laws
1. Contact family and friends for support as you will not be able to make "good" decisions by yourself for a while.
2. Contact an attorney immediately.
3. Don't sign anything.
4. Don't agree to anything.
5. Make your children priority.
6. Seek counceling for youself and your children.
7. Right away, first day, take all the money out of the bank that is available that is not there to cover checks already written. take your name off the checking account, close it out as soon as possible. Open another one in just your name.
8. Cancel alllllllll credit cards, and charge accounts with joint ownership immediately.
9. Be sure and get all keys to your house and vehicles. Change locks on doors.
10. Consult with Doctor for depression, anxiety, nervousness, sleeplessness.
11. If violence is involved get out any way you can!!!!!!
