Who is the Christ? The Christ is the Son of God, the Messiah prophesised in hundreds of Biblical Old Testament passages. God's expressed image of his person, the first born of creation, the Lord of Lords. The Christ is the undying idea of the one and only God. He is what the Father knows of himself, God's subjective light which shined into the darkness. Jesus is the man who embodied this Christ nature, as God's son he was this Christ individualized in the flesh. As Jesus said of his Christ nature, "No man cometh to the Father but by me." We are Christians in that we accept him as our Lord and Savior.
Who is Mary Baker Eddy? Mary Baker Eddy is the Discoverer and Founder of Science of Christianity or Christian Science. She was chosen by God to bring to fruition the return of the promised Comforter to humanity. Her appearance on the human scene in the mid 19th century in New England in the United States was in accordance with Biblical Prophecy as the Woman meant to deliver to humanity the final revelation or fullness of Christianity as the emanation of God's law, the Science of Being, when humanity was sufficiently prepared spiritually to receive it. Her coming was prophesied by Isaiah and in the Book of Revelation. In a mission complementary to Christ Jesus who gave humanity an enlarged sense of the fatherhood of God, so did Mrs. Eddy reveal God's motherhood and essential nature as divine Love. Mrs. Eddy is the author of the Textbook of Christian Science, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, and the founder of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, the worldwide Church which Mrs. Eddy designed "to be built on the Rock, Christ; even the understanding and demonstration of divine Truth, Life, and Love, healing and saving the world from sin and death; thus to reflect in some degree the Church Universal and Triumphant."
