This new website is super. I'm glad that those of us who were there and in Charlie Flight now have a way of communicating! I was there in 1972-73 with my then wife, Melanie. We lived in fabulous Yalova and rode the ole' blue bus back and forth to base.
I spent many a happy hour on the base tennis courts and midnight movies, thanks to the genorosity of by immediate supervisor, Brooks Northern, who steered me onto this site.

Great site! I was at KAS from 3/68-3/70. An X2 Charlie Flighter. Don't recognize any names as yet, but I have a feeling that will change. Looking forward to learning about the things that transpired after I left and I might be able to fill in some gaps from my era.

X2 stationed at KAS from late 69 to early 71. I haven't had a GOOD bottle of Tuborg since then. I only recognize a few names here, but it has been a long time. I do remember how Screendoor Brack got his name. You need to "OPEN" the door before you enter the building Tom. I remember when I first got there, someone said that KAS was the best kept secret in the Air Force. They were right.

LIved in Yalova with Mary Ann Redzich. Mary Ann and I live in Scranton, PA where we are pushing kids out the door one at a time. Remember when Mary Ann and I got married? Glenn Beppu accused her of marrying me for my state, (Hawaii.) She is a psych nurse and I am a mailman. Mary Ann started on Baker Flight and realized that Charlie was the place to be; I'm glad she came to her senses. Our baby is in high school and plays the trumpet, (we steer him away from "TUBAS".)

We had a great time at KCDI from Fall '71 until Dec '74. Wonderful memories of ball games, parties in the Charlie Flight dayroom, and the radio-thons "Catch Us If You Can!!" Retired from AF in '77 and spent 25 years as a high school guidance counselor, retirning again last summer. Working on the reunion here in Chattanooga. There'll be lots of things to do and we're going to have a really great time. Did out your old photo's and contact any of the old gang. The more, the merrier.

Hi to all. I was on Charlie for 2 yrs working the wideband position and then went to days with Chip LeBrecht to lay tile in the compound for the last 6 months there. Seems we had a problem with SSgt.Manning(not TSgt Manning)who left and came back as Lt. Manning. Who remembers threatening not to play ball and he was trying to order us to play? Well, that's how we ended up on the day ladies shift. Enough about him. Another trivia question. Who remembers Freddie the waiter at the NCO Club? He used to cash in the chits for $ if you needed it. I have quite a few pix of Charlie people and activities if anyone wants them.

I was at KCDI in Charlie Flight from July 72 until December 75. I worked in DF until we were shut down. I'm living in Ada, Oklahoma and work as an insurance adjuster. I'm still married to Debbie and she is a CPA. We lived in Yalova and spent many hours waiting for and riding the "wonderful" blue bus. Our son Ryan, who was born in Turkey, is married and also lives in Ada. Ryan is our only child. We have two granddaughters Abby age four and Gabby who will be ten in April.

Hi, everyone. Was on Charlie Flight from 74 to pretty much "the end" in 76. It's been weird how so many of my thoughts drift back tothat time and place. It's really nice to see familar names and know we're all alive and well. I've knocked around, here and there. Married a woman who was a captain in the air force. Now THAT'S the life! Being a dependent husband, we spent time in Germany and Florida. Since then I've taught HS English, been a principal and even coached football and basketball. Lived in Yalova and the big event was when an entireprising Turk finally opened a bar! For a carton of smokes apiece (what, $2.10?) you could drink and eat all night. And we did. Some great parties in the day room, some great friends, too. Hope you are all well.

Served in Karamursel, Medina and the P.I. Got out of the AF and went to school in California. Joined the Foreign Service in 1982 and its ironic that my last tour will be in Ankara. I am a communications person working at the Embassy for the State Dept. so if anyone is in Turkey you had better stop by Ankara and look me up. I will be there in May 2004 and my wife will join me in jan 2005 after she retires from the GS side of the USG. I had a great time in karamursel from 66-68. I had a blast in the USAFSS. Even though I didn't stay in I belong to FTVA and every year attend a big PI reunion. Last one was in St. Louis and the next will be in September 2004 in San Antonio. Drop by if you're in the area. We are all brothers and sisters. Take care and best regards to everyone. Since I couldn't be called Bozo in the State Dept I changed my nickname to Buzz so either Bozo or Buzz is cool with me.

Romanian 203 in Charlie Flight from 01/69 to 07/70. Only jock in the squirrel cage. Played on Charlie Flight's first tackle footballteam in '69. Lost 1 game to Det 63 and blew everyone else away for base championship. Learned to ski in Uludag (sp) and ran to the Bul on almost every break, usually with Gary LIndenmuth (Bulgarian 203). For $20.00 we could take the Yalova ferry to Istanbul, ride a city bus to the Sultan Ahmet district, stay in the Buyuk Aya Sofia (sp) hotel for three nights and come back with change left. Remember when the first WAF contingent arrived at Karamursel. They moved into the dorm across the quad from our barracks and the next day the Bx sold out of binoculars. Thanks to Jim Comeaux (aka Perry) our titless WAF for alerting me to this site. Brings back way more memories than I can talk about here.
