How to get in touch with those in charge

Finding Your Officials

  • Congress.org provides contact information for your senators and representatives, not to mention the president, vice president, and state and local officials -- just enter your zip code. You can also select specific issues and actions that are important to you from their menu.

  • If you're a visual person, you can also get contact info (including email addresses) for your members of Congress from this interactive map.

  • The Electronic Frontier Foundation provides contact information, letter-writing guidelines, and important facts regarding getting in touch with your federal and state officials. This is an easy, thorough source with all the information you'll need for a quick letter or email.

The Virtual Congress suggests that you always tell members of Congress if you are a part of the district they represent and if you are a voting constituent. Also, whenever you can, tell a personal story to catch the official's attention.

American Civil Liberties Union provides solid tips on winning officials to your side.
