Africa Awakening is a collaboration of African Poetry, Music and Documentaries enhanced by the spectacle of sound, sub-titles, animations and suspence. This Arts Online production was established by its producer, Tony Tokunbo Fernandez in 1996. The production aims to promote the cultural awareness of Aesthetics through various facets that stimulates emotions and moral growth. Our Website has won 4 International awards, and has been reviewed by various scholars, writers, critics and spokesmen worldwide. Tony Tokunbo Fernandez, the founder of this production is also a playwright, poet and novelist. His first book, "The Beauty in the Dark" was published in 1999, in Lagos, Nigeria, and attracted critical attention in the UK, Nigeria and the States. At present he has just completed a Novel due for publication titled "The Secrets in the Wind".
The Producer:
Tony was born on the 7th of August 1969 in South London, UK, At the age of nine he developed a keen interest in writing, a habit he expressed with creative enthusiasm.
Tony attended the Federal Government College Azare, Nigeria, where he completed his secoundary school. He also graduated from The University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1994 with a bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature.
He later went on to gain a qualification in teaching English as a foreign Language at the Frances King International Institute, South Kensington in London, and later went on to study Web design at City University in Barbican.
His interests are cooking, salsa, jazz, tennis, wine research, editing documentaries, photography,web design, travelling and writing.
