Moses RINDL (1816-1859) married Rosa FREY (or FREI) in about 1847/8.
They had the following children:
Lottie and Hannie, twins, born 1851
Jakob born 1853
Sigmund born 1854
Bernhard born 1856
Emanuel born 1857.
Jakob, who married Lina GINSBERG, was born in Engelswald (now Mosnov, near to Ostrava). This marriage in 1882 may well have occurred in South Africa .
Bernhard had a shop in the village of Partschendorf (now Bartosovice, just north of Novy Jicin).
There was also some, unspecified, connection with the town of Maehrische Weissenkirche (now Hranice, just west of Novy Jicin). (Information from H. Rindl)
Professor Max Rindl(1883-1947)
M. Rindl, son of Jakob Rindl who set up a photography studio with Franz Ginsberg in King Williams Town(see BLOCH UND GINSBERG page), received his degree, D. Ing., at the University of Charlottenburg [Berlin]. He was one of the first professors appointed at the foundation of Grey University College in about 1910 (now University of the Free State). He had to teach both geology and chemistry until 1912 when he became a full-time Professor of Chemistry. His knowledge of chemistry and geology was manifested in his pioneering studies of mineral springs in South Africa.
