Reflections
Mother Teresa
"There is only one God and He is God to all; therefore it is
important that everyone is seen as equal before God.
I've always said we should help a Hindu become a better
Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become
a better Catholic.
We believe our work should be our example
to people. We have among us 475 souls - 30 families are Catholics
and the rest are all Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs—all different religions.
But they all come to our prayers."
"At the end of our lives, we will not be judged by how many
diplomas we have received, how much money we have made
or how many great things we have done.
We will be judged by
‘I was hungry and you gave me to eat.
I was naked and you clothed me.
I was homeless and you took me in.’
Hungry not only for bread-but hungry for love.
Naked not only for clothing-but naked of human dignity and respect.
Homeless not only for want of a room of bricks-
but homeless because of rejection"
Cesar Chavéz
"We can choose to use our lives for others to bring about a better
and more just world for our children. People who make that choice
will know hardship and sacrifice. But if you give yourself totally to
the non-violence struggle for peace and justice you also find that
people give you their hearts and you will never go hungry and
never be alone. And in giving of yourself you will discover a
whole new life full of meaning and love."
Martin Luther King
"The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending
spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of
diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may
murder the hater, but you do not murder the hate. In fact,
violence merely increases hate...Returning violence for violence
merely increases hate...Returning violence for violence multiplies
violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
Darkness cannot drive out hate; only love can do that"
Mahatma Gandhi
"When I despair, I remember that all through history
the way of truth and love has always won. There have
been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem
invincible but in the end, they always fall -- think of it,
ALWAYS."
