Who is this man named Jesus?

Who is this man named Jesus Christ? No name in history has ever stirred up so much emotional controversy. No other name has created so much division or brought so many people together. The name 'Jesus' has stirred wars and inspired peace. The mere mention of the name 'Jesus' causes ears to turn. Throughout time the name 'Jesus' has stood fast, strong and constant. Alpha and Omega. An ever constant help in times of trouble and calm.

To some the name 'Jesus' ignites anger or discomfort, why do people make a god out of a human. To others 'Jesus' is a peace and comfort that passes understanding, he is the embodiment of agape. Historians from both secular and spiritual paths agree that 'Jesus' did in fact walk this earth. Proponents from both sides agree that 'He' did change water into wine, cause the sick to be healed, raised the dead and walked on water. There have been debates concerning these events or apparent miracles. The biggest debate comes though when followers of 'Jesus' claim Him to be the "Prince of Peace", "Emmanuel", "the Living Son of God the Father", "the Bright Morning Star" ... This debate has gone on for centuries. His followers state with conviction that 'He' went into Heaven and is coming again. The accounts of 'Jesus' written in the "Bible" have yet to be laid as false. Yet 'Jesus' remains the most disputed individual in history.

When we think about people like Mother Theresa, we think of good. When we think about people like Adolf Hitler, we think of evil. Yet with their deaths, they are written down in history books and forgotten. Yet with 'Jesus' his name continues to reach the darkest recesses of the world, translations of the Bible remain the most sold book in the world.

Who is this man named 'Jesus'? To you he maybe totally different than to me. That is something you will need to work out on an personally individual level. To me 'Jesus' is everything. He sent his comforter to me, the 'Holy Spirit'. He is my strength and encouragement. My Best Friend and constant Companion. He is there for me in my loneliness, he lifts me up. He shares my victories and challenges me to new missions. He is my heart and soul. 'Jesus' is also who I recognize as that "still small voice" that calls out to me from deep inside. He is my Shield and Sword. Most importantly 'Jesus' is my intercessor to the Father through prayer. 'Jesus' drives all my fears away. Without Him nothing is right and there is a vast void inside me. 'Jesus' loves me with a love that transcends all else. 'Jesus' is my "Lord", the "Ruler" of my life and my personal "Savior". With His sacrifice I am saved. Heaven is my destination and 'Jesus' is the "Master" of my ship.
