Your Rover's Birth Certificate
Did you know that you can obtain a 'birth certificate' for your Land Rover? There are 2 ways to get one.
To obtain a 'production record certificate' write to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust and they will provide you with a photocopy of the production records, showing the log book entry for your vehicle's chassis number and those of the preceding and following chassis. The BMIHT Archives contains the production records of many British made cars, Land Rover included. There is a fee for this service. Production record certificates are obtained by writing to:
The Heritage Motor Centre
Banbury Road
Gaydon
Warwick, CV35 0BJ
UK
Phone: Production Record Certificates - (01926) 645076
Another way is to contact The Land Rover Co. in the UK. They will tell you the build date and to which dealer it was sent. This is a free service.
Eric Pagan,
Senior Engineer,
Traceability Systems
Land Rover Group Ltd,
Lode Lane
Solihull

There is also a fax number for him +44 (0)121 742 0738. It may be a good idea to send them some sort of 'proof of ownership' or a copy of the chassis number.
