Convert your Series One to use an Alternator
If you are not overly concerned with originality then you may want to consider upgrading the charging system from a generator to an alternator. Below are some photos of the bracket needed to install a GM Delco unit. The plans for the bracket are available in the Documents section of the Garage. To access wiring instructions and the bracket plans click here.
Once you have upgraded the charging system it is wise to make some changes to the headlight circuit. The extra amperage from the alternator can burn out the headlight switch and the dip switch. Prevent this by installing relays to handle the higher current. Plans for the relay installation are found here.
