How do Sol-Air Air Purifiers Work?

All Sol-Air systems utilize the well documented sterilizing capabilities of germicidal ultraviolet light combined with the odor reduction and chemical attributes of ultraviolet oxidation.  Compactly packaged for the hospitality industry and the fire and flood restoration trade or any place where clean, decontaminated air is required.

All Sol-Air machines are CSA approved and NRTL/C approved for export.  These machines are patented in Canada and the United States, and are manufactured in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. They have been designed specifically for each industry sector where professionals and specialists are in need of a solution to odor and contamination problems affecting the environment.  Each machine has a specific area of application within the industry, and so the following is application information. How it Works

UV Clean Air Technology

Sol-Air Systems’ patented technologies disinfect the air by employing multi-frequency ultraviolet light killing bacteria and other micro-organisms at their molecular level. Sol-Air’s systems deodorize air through photo-oxidation and the production of quick acting yet mild oxidants (hydroxyl radicals), which break down and neutralize volatile organic compounds.

Ultraviolet light has four principal wavelengths: UV-A, UV-B, UV-C and UV-V.   The Sol-Air uses a patented J Lamp, which produces UV-C and UV-V light.   UV-C is short-wave radiation. This wavelength's primary use is the destruction of bacteria and other microorganisms that pass through the chamber.   UV-V is primarily used for oxidization.   Both UV wavelengths work together to destroy the contaminant, UV-C penetrates the cell's membrane destroying the cell's DNA while UV-V destroys the chemicals of the dead cell.   Both UV wavelengths attack the microorganism on a molecular level, actually changing the DNA of the cell.   These changes result in incorrect codes being transmitted from the modified DNA, which lead to the destruction of the microorganism.
