MARY MARJORIE MCGEE STEINKE

Mary Marjorie Steinke was the only child born to Cornelius & Ophelia McGee in Keokuk, Iowa on December 16, 1922.
Her father, Cornelius, was a Senior Captain of the Steamboat that traveled down the Mississippi River.  Margie spent many hours as a child on that Riverboat.
In 1937, when Margie was only 15 years old, her mom Ophelia, and her experienced a super-flood in the small town of Paducah.  Paducah suffered more than 50 feet of water for over a month, leaving Margie & her mom without a home.  For several months they had to stay in a shelter in a nearby town.
As a young woman she worked as a file clerk at Pacific Mutual Insurance Company for 9 years. When she was 25 years old she met her husband Stanley Steinke & married him a year later. They were blessed with three children; Steven, Suzanne & Teri.
Margie dedicated her life to Jehovah God on February 22, 1962.
In 1980, she moved to Cucamonga.  She loved her friends in this congregation so much, that we could never get her to move back home with us.
In Jehovah's Organization, we truly are just one big loving family.  Margie loved all of you--you were her family.  She could never stop talking about everyone.  As I go through her stuff, there's so many cards from everyone.  She saved them all! Everyone took such great care of her.  Taking her to all the meetings, the store, the bank, doctors visits, service & sometimes dinner & a movie.  Jehovah tells us to take care of our elderly ones in our congregation & you truly did everything that he asked & more.  She loved Jehovah very much & served him faithfully for over 35 years.  He was her life.
She is survived by three children--Steven Steinke, Suzanne Varnell, Teri Unger; nine grandchildren, Sean, William & Ryan Steinke; Jamie, Erica & Sarah Varnell; and Paul, Erik & Jared Unger; and one great grandchild, Tiffany Unger.
Love To You All,
Her Family

If she could tell us
how she wanted us to remember her
I think she'd say
we should dry our tears and smile
She always made
people feel good and that's how we'll
remember her.
I thank my God always
upon every rememberance of YOU.....

The information on this page was taken
from a scrapbook that my mother had in
her possession at the time of her death.
She had put the scrapbook together as
she was growing up.  There was no dates
on any of the information that she kept in
the scrapbook.  All backgrounds and images
were created by me Fiddlinsue© and are
not to leave this site by any means. Main
image is from my own personal collection.
Thanks
