4-27-07 ILLINOIS ENTERTAINER DEEMS KC WORTHY OF INTERVIEW

"It wasn't by choice or design that there was a 10-year gap between records. When we hit some fertile ground, songwriting-wise, the band reacted to it. There wasn't any conscious effort to sound a certain way — we sound how we sound. In 10 years you just hope that you improve a little bit.." -- Kevin Cronin  (More:

4-13-07  KSHE  FM  IN  ST  LOUIS  AIRS  REO  INTERVIEWS

Hey gang! The jocks at KSHE contacted us to let us know that REO Speedwagon's full performance and interviews are now online at "SweetMeat's Playhouse." Enjoy!

4-12-07 CD REVIEWS ARE TRICKLING IN....

Chicago Sun Times:  "After a decade of countless repackaged, retreaded hits collections and live recordings, the Champaign-born arena rock band returned to the studio two years ago and has emerged...and eventually falls flat. See, these songs aren't new at all. Lifted from the template book of REO Speedwagon Hits, each of them recycles hackneyed cliches and weak metaphors ("Baby, save me tonight," "I need love like water," "I am lost on the road of love") over music dusted off from the CMC International playbook of reviving long-dead hit bands. Singer Kevin Cronin's age-pocked voice often sounds like Greg Graffin of punk band Bad Religion. With REO co-founder Neal Doughty and three support players added in the '90s -- and guided by the ham-fisted production of Joe Vannelli (brother of Gino) -- the band generally stinks up the studio with 10 overproduced, overwrought caricatures of their former selves. They should've gone country. "

Shipwrecked Island Studio: "Sadly this disc is no where near what it could or should have been.... In a perfect world we should be talking about how REO knocked this album out of the ballpark with an insane set of rock elements. Unfortunately in reality this release leaves us once again questioning the direction in which band trying to portray. ...I am extremely disappointed in the quality of this release. This is another rock band that has simply turned their back on the sound that made them famous."

Melodic Rock: "...individual tastes come into play, but you are never going to please everyone all of the time. This could be said of any artist or band with a long history – there are always going to be varied opinions on new material. There will be some that accept just about anything, as long as the quality is there and there will be others that are sticklers for an artist's classic sound. Perhaps to the disappointment of some, this is not an outwardly rocking release. But it has a lot of style."
