Our Picnic in the Park
The sun was up and shining
that very special day
A picnic planned in Lakeside Park
and we'd soon be underway
Mom had filled the basket
with food for us to eat
Sandwiches of every kind
and dessert to be our treat
Dad brought things for us to use
a bat - a ball - a kite
So we could have a lot of fun
As long as it stayed light
We spread a big old blanket
on the ground beneath the tree
That to be the eating place
for Dad and Mom and Me
Lots of little boys and girls
were there to play and run
What a place for memories
What a place for fun
All took turns upon the swing
swinging up and down
All the children smiling
I never saw a frown
I made my Mommy promise
and Daddy promised too
To plan another picnic
in fact - plan quite a few
I'd like to take you with me
the next time that I go
