| Hello! and welcome aboard I would like to introduce myself I'm Darrell Pedersen. I've been involved with radio-control boats & ships since the late 70´s. I'm now working on my second composite NOAA ship model and have the intention to build four more. My fascination with NOAA ships started back in the early part of 1996 when I was reading a magazine called Sea Classic and came across an article on NOAA. I can honestly say it was over one photograph. (NOAA) stands for the "National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration". In my opinion, NOAA ships are unique especially the ones from the 60's & 70's and it's safe to say they all have more gadgets onboard than a Swiss army knife. Their paint schemes are white with the blue seagull and NOAA letters across the bow. Each ship also has an alphabet letter followed by a number. Some, like the WHITING S-329, have wooden decks which finishes them off nicely. If you are thinking about scratch-building a ship project, take a hard look at the never-ending fleet of NOAA ships.
