Kumuls' Abroad
Papua New Guinea Internationals Abroad in 2006/07:

Rugby League is Papua New Guinea's national sport and it is every young boys dream of making it big in the local teams such as the Broncos' of Port Moresby and the Goroka Lahinis. But for some of those who have already achieved that, their ambitions go much further. As far as playing in the toughest sporting competition on the globe, the National Rugby League of Australia.

It is very hard for overseas players to make it big 'down under' beacuse their is so much raw talent within Australia, even the best stars of Britain find it hard to cope with the level of competition. But the majority of Papua New Guineans who play their trade in the NRL seem to catch onto the skill level very quickly and it doesn't take much adapting to. One of the most successful Papuans to have played his trade abroad is Adrian Lam. He is one of the best players to have hit the international stage between the early 1990's and into the 21st century. He previously played for Sydney City Roosters in the Australian NRL, and even represented Queensland in the legendary State Of Origin Series, he then moved on to England where he finished a glittering career with world famous Wigan Warriors, one of the biggest clubs in the Northern Hemisphere and the most commercially famous Rugby League club on the globe.

Check out all the current Papua New Guinea internationals playing abroad by taking a glimpse at the list below.

Another worldwide superstar to come out of the land of Papua New Guinea is Marcus Bai. He is a legend in his homeland after the mark he has made on world Rugby League. Marcus is the only player from Papua New Guinea to win the grand finals at both sides of the hemisphere winning the NRL Premiership Grand Final with Melbourne Storm in 1999 before a record 107,961 fans at the formerly known Stadium Australia and becoming a Super League Grand Final winner in the United Kingdom with Leeds Rhinos in 2004 at Old Trafford to bring yet more glory to an illustrious career. Marcus also became the first player on the globe to become a 'world club champion' on both sides of the hemispehere. Bai won the world club title in 2000 with Melbourne Storm and won it for a second time with English champions Leeds Rhinos in February 2005 as they defeated the Australasian premiers Canterbury Bulldogs of Australia in the 'Carnegie' sponsored World Club Challenge.
