No Fear Act Celebration
October 9, 2002
Rayburn House Office Bldg, Room 2237
6 pm

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

On May 15, 2002, President George W. Bush signed into law the first civil rights bill of the 21st century.  The name of the law is the  "Notification of Federal Employees Anti-Discrimination and Retaliation Act of 2002" (No FEAR).  It is my pleasure to invite you and members of your organization to participate in a victory celebration on October 9, 2002 in honor of the bipartisan group of courageous Members of Congress that fought for the passage of this historic legislation: Congressman F. James Sensenbrenner, Chair, Judiciary Committee, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Congresswoman Constance Morella and Senator John Warner.

Actor Danny Glover and former Congressman Walter Fauntroy are the co-chairs of the victory celebration.

The No Fear Act of 2002 will impact the lives of millions of people in the federal workplace.  As I am sure you are will agree, discrimination in the federal workplace must end!  We ask for your commitment to end discrimination in the federal workplace in our lifetime.  In order for the No Fear Act to be effective, we will have to continue to struggle for justice.  We ask you to distribute this letter and to encourage your friends and family members to attend the victory celebration.  We need your help.

Thousands of African-Americans, Latinos, woman and whistleblowers are the daily targets of injustice and inhumane treatment in the federal workplace.  This treatment often leads to life threatening conditions, such as, high blood pressure, heart disease, stokes and cancer.  This form of racism destroys families and undercuts the financial stability of our community. The federal government is the largest single employer of African-Americans and women in the country.

This letter is an appeal to you to support the victory celebration. Not only will your contribution support this historic occasion it will also help the No Fear Institute continue its important mission of fighting for justice and fairness in the federal workplace.  Donations are appeciated and should be sent to and made payable to: ProjectLaw/No Fear Institute.  The address can be found below.

As we embrace the daybreak of this new millennium rife with discrimination and replete with challenge, it is our prayers that you will join us in rallying the conscience and goodwill of the nation for the cause of civil and human rights in the American workplace.

It you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact me at nofearcoalition@msn.com I thank you in advance for your support and prayers.

Sincerely,

Marsha Coleman-Adebayo, Ph.D

Chair
