Rumil, Sentinel of Lothlorien

Mr. Mysterious Elf hereby presents Haldir's other brother: Rumil!

Just like Orophin, Rumil is a brother of Haldir. His age is unknown to us and we do not know about the parents of the three Marchwardens of Lothlorien either.

We have not been able to see this Sindar Elf in action yet as well as his brothers, but mayhap we can get our chance in the Extended DVD version of FOTR which will be released on November 12. Rumours go that on that version a scene is added in which the Sentinels of Lorien battle the Orcs that have followed the Fellowship out of Moria into  Lothlorien.

Rumil looks very assured when he points his arrow at the Fellowship in FOTR, and we do not have any reason to doubt his ability with the bow, the natural weapon of the woodelves.

Together with Haldir and his other brother Orophin, Rumil is one of the few Lorien Elves that every once in a while venture outside of Lothlorien to gain news of the outside world. He also knows a little bit of the western tongue, but we never hear him speak.

In the book he escorts the Fellowship along with Haldir further into Lothlorien untill they reach it's core. He stays on the other shore as the Fellowship crosses the river.

We must not mistake Rumil of Lorien with the Rumil mentioned in The Silmarillion, for this Rumil was a Noldorian Wise who was the designer of the first written markings.

News: Rumil is being played by Jorn Benzon
No pic of him available yet.

Rumil has also got his own Decipher Card:
