 AWARD OF OF EXCELLENCE

 

  Would you like to recieve the Mason Dixon Award of Excellence?

   1861-1865 Outstanding Site AwardThe  Mason Dixon Outstanding Site Award was established to recognize outstanding contributions to the study of the War on the Web. Pages presented with this award must deal with the conflict in some form and must promote an increased understanding and (or) appreciation of the War and the role it played in shaping the future of the United States. Suggested subject matter includes (but is not limited to):

  • Causes of the War
  • Battles and campaigns
  • Leaders (both military and civilian)
  • Regiments, brigades, and other military units/reenactment units
  • Diaries, letters, and other wartime literature or documents
  • Ethnic participation in the War
  • Music of the War
  • Weaponry, fortifications, and military tactics
  • Civilians (especially women) during the War
  • Cemeteries and other post-War monuments
  • Prisons
  • National Military Parks and National Battlefields
  • Museums
  • Civil War round tables and other forums
  • Heritage groups
  • Miscellaneous related topics

Criteria for the award are as follows:
  • Sites must make a significant contribution to the study and historical appreciation of the War Between the States
  • Sites must represent the original work or ideas of their owners (lists of links to other people's work do not qualify, unless the stated purpose of the site is to collect and present such links, nor do sites that appropriate the work of others)
  • Sites must be historically accurate and reasonably unbiased (it's okay to promote your hero or your army but not at the expense of the other side)
  • Sites must be user friendly (easy to navigate, no monster images to download, no overwrought Java script)
  • Sites must be graphically attractive
  • Sites should be free of spelling and grammatical errors
  • Sites must be Family Friendly.  No profane language
  • Commercial sites do not qualify

Criteria for the award are as stated above. We do not give evaluations or offer suggestions on how your site can qualify for this award and will not respond to e-mail asking for same. If your site is selected to receive the Mason Dixon Outstanding Sight Award, you will be notified. No explanation or notification will be given if your site is not selected. Notification times are dependent on the backlog of sites to be reviewed.
