Independent Vampires
The Inconnu have their eye no London; once home to their most powerful member, the plots and counter plots of different Inconnu factions have built to a head, now that Gehenna is upon us.
The Inconnu
Cassius
Ventrue
Whilst not, strictly speaking, an actual inhabitant of London, Cassius has been known to send his Anima out from his haven on Sparta.
A former Roman soldier and senator in the days of the Republic, Cassius was but a neonate when he marched with Ishmael on Carthage. From this experience, he has had a deep respect and a healthy fear of the elder Methuselah.
Whilst the majority of the Inconnu concerned with the doings of Ishmael hoped to return to Malkavian to the fold of the sect with the return of his Eye, Cassius is a member of a rogue cabal within the Inconnu who hoped to jump start Gehenna on their time table by using the Eye to kill Ishmael.
Current Status: That attempt failed and Cassius finds himself caught unable to act for fear that his hand is revealed
Lord Morgan
Ventrue
Childe of Cassius, embraced in the second century AD, Morgan ahs only spent 600 years active. The rest of his time has been spent in torpor, often brought about by violent means. Morgan is a recent convert to the Inconnu, returned to Cassius’ aegis at the end of the 19th century, after a centuries long torpor. Morgan has spent the last century trying to catch up with the modern world and as such he has a better grasp of the way of the world than Cassius; hence Morgan being sent to London to deliver the Eye to Ishmael.
Current Status: Following Ishmael feeding upon him, Morgan has lost a week of time, something that he is not at all happy about. He is sure that the Methuselah ahs done something to him, but he is not sure quite what… Currently he has decided that the destruction of Daniel grey is an utmost priority and to this end he has made an alliance with Dubhan, Samira and Najja, the Assamites of the city.
Other Rogues
Lord Fox
AKA Malki, AKA the Desert Fox
Formerly a ghoul of Ozymandias, Lord Fox was finally embraced after the destruction of the City by Lucifer. It is, perhaps, unsurprising then that he exhibits several of Lucifer’s personality traits.
Current Status: Lord Fox claims to serve the Sleeper in some inscrutable way, to this end he has manipulated Adam and Valentine towards some unknown goal. Lord Fox never appears in a physical form, perhaps he no longer has one and is only able to exist within the Cobweb…
The Concerned Citizen’s Committee
A Collection of dead Malkavians who exist purely within the Cobweb. One of their number refers to himself as Orpheus and is, perhaps, a childe of Ishmael. They all claim some decent from the Sleeper.
Current Status: After attempting to strike a deal with Daniel Grey when it looked like Ishmael was the threat, they have now turned their attention to supposed neonate. Their latest scheme involved sending the Ankou to London, which has met with failure…
The Brotherhood of Keepers
An ancient coterie dating from the days of The City of the Tower. A collection of ancients who still serve the dream of Ozymandias, whatever it might be.
Current Status: The Brotherhood has been manipulating events for millennia, but recent events have shocked them, forcing them to play a hand they do not think is ready: currently they are marshalling forces to kill Daniel Grey.
No one knows all the names of the Brotherhood’s members, but the current leader of the coterie refers to herself as the Lady K. Lord Fox appears to be a breakaway member.
The Sleeper
According to the legends kept within the vaults of the Lady K’s castle, there was once a boy born in a small village near the city of the gods. He was called to the city to be a servant and he found himself turned into one of their number. Always a curious boy, he learnt all he could from his fellows, grew bored and left the city to wander in the desert.
At some point he sent his mind out into the spirit world, and there he found a stairway to the skies. Climbing the ladder was hard, and all manner of strange distractions pestered him; but he persevered and eventually found himself on a plateau filled with all manner of delights and chances to learn.
But this plateau, he knew, was not the end of his journey, and he began to climb again, until he reached another plateau…
And so the story went, until the boy eventually reached the pinnacle he sought and was changed.
And so the reality bending creature that would be called the Sleeper was born.
Changed utterly, unable to communicate with the small, slow minded creature that was humanity, the entity created avatars from the minds of those around it. And those avatars began to have a life of their own…
Daniel Grey
Daniel Grey, once called Danny Grey, is a rogue avatar of the Sleeper, once that seeks to subvert the vast, alien mind which created him and take its power for his own. To this end, he has brought the Sabbat to the city, killed the former Sheriff, sent his replacement into torpor, murdered Assamites, brokered with demons, and destroyed an entire Setite temple.
Current Status: Grey has set about a final course to power: he intends to subvert the entire Cobweb linking Malkavian to Malkavian, effectively making each Malkavian an extension of his own will.
Despite his power, Grey does have a set number of weaknesses: his inability to control his power and his fear of losing his unique identity to the power and personalities within him are but two such Achilles’ heels. The play, The King in Yellow may also contain Grey’s doom, as does whoever wields the Eye of Ishmael, for if would be within their power to unmake Daniel Grey completely.
