The Diogenes Club

The Club has a great deal of power in London; at its heart is a coterie of elders that has been in existence since the rise of the British Empire.  Under Mithras they were kept controlled, but since the rise of Queen Anne, the coterie has become her key supporter and has seen an expansion in its power base.

The Coterie are the five vampires on the club’s board, though another ten vampires are members of the club. 

Marquis Blackthorn
Ventrue, Primogen,  founder of the Diogenes Club, founder of the Diogenes Club Coterie, has extensive contacts with the criminal world, specifically in the Triads (his Crazy Dragons of the Western Sea) and China Town.  Blackthorn has interests in several shipping companies and is a major supplier of heroin to the city.
Current Status:  Events have revealed that Blackthorn has a history in the East, where his depredations earned him the sobriquet of “The Western Dragon” he has had run ins with several of the main Sabbat NPCs and some of them are looking for vengeance.  Despite this, Blackthorn’s position is still very strong, and he could come out of the War very much on top…

Update: Blackthorn has recently stepped down from his position as Primogen in favour of Edward Grey.  This move seems to be an act of compromise with the Tremere.

Lord Basil
Ventrue, member of the Diogenes Club Coterie. 
An old, fat man with his fingers in a lot of pies, Lord Basil has effectively served as Blackthorn’s lieutenant for a number of years now, he has some interests in East End crime, but has transferred much of his power base into local building companies.  As such, he has several Borough Councillors in his pocket to help him with difficult planning permission contracts. 
Current Status: Alive, on the War Council, his numerous contacts in local Boroughs will probably be put to good use.

Lady Roberts
Malkavian, member of the Diogenes Club Coterie, only official female member (Queen Anne is also a member, but not officially), Primogen.
A pretty woman with a who keeps her head shaved and dresses in business suits, she owns several night clubs.    Has the derangement Fugue.

Peter the Broken
Toreador, member of the Diogenes Club Coterie, Primogen. He has extensive interests in the art world.
Confined to a wheel chair from an accident during life, he appears as a small, fragile man, constantly attended by two ghouled nurses.  His mind set is Ultra Conservative in all ways including artistic endeavour (so he’s not best pleased about certain of the recent famous artists Britain has been producing).  Has three childer called either Mark or Markus.

Mark Spencer
Toreador, member of the Diogenes Club Coterie, master architect (he designed the building which houses the Club, he has also either designed or designed alterations to the havens of each member). 
He is the youngest of the club both in terms of appearance and age.  His sire is Peter.

Jonathan Vane
Primogen and a bit of an unliked bastard, also a member of the Diogenes Club, but not the Coterie
Vane is the Brujah Primogen but he is hated by the majority of his clan and is only in power as the other Brujah elders are not strong enough to depose him.  He does, however, have some back in a feair few areas.  Even these Brujah, however, dislike him.  Sexist, racist, arrogant and vindictive, Vane dresses like a Victorian gentleman and was embraced late in his life, with his body turning to fat; he constantly informs everyone around him of his low birth and his fight to bring himself to respectability.  Oddly enough, his life wasn’t that hard…
Though his Unlife maybe, should any of the Brujah collect enough support to remove him from power, which is unlikely, due to his ties to the Diogenes Club and his control of large sections of London Transport. 
The fact that he is effectively Blackthorn’s puppet is also a bonus.  His wayward childe looks after the Ambers.
