Special KATRINA Feature: The Day New Orleans Stood Still

Want to help? The Project can use help in maintaining the website, as well as replacing supplies and equipment stolen post-Katrina by the strange Garden District patrol who are not authorized by the City to disrupt research work at our cemetery.
Send contributions(cash, checks, money orders, or visa gift cards) to:
Sean M. Perry
c/o 3110 Magazine St.
New Orleans, LA. 70115
Also, our Books-for-Kids (READ NEW ORLEANS) work is ongoing. We need the most help with logistics. But the look of a child with some new books all their own is fantastic.

Help stop Haunted/Voodoo/Ghost gypsy commercial INC  tours from desecrating our cemeteries by boycotting their companies. They like to hang out at the coffee shop at Washington and Prytania waiting for tourists from the streetcar. They do NOT contribute to the cemetery and most do not even live in Orleans Parish anyway (which means they simply come here fore the money,  then flee home). They are not contributors to our recovery. Only someone with a GREEN LCRP badge may answer upon behalf of the Project. The LCRP is not affiliated with, nor supporters of, Save Our Cemeteries, INC.!!! They are simply a commercial tourguid consortium.Help stop abuses by so-called "non-or not-for profit" organizations, their members, associates, affiliates, and ancillary companies, groups, etc., of their 501.c.3 Federal tax-exempt status' by notifying the Federal Bureau of Investigation at: (504) 816-3000 and the U.S. Department of Justice at: (504) 680-3000. Commercial tours are often affiliated with these self-interest groups and may provide false information to support their businesses.

Located in the Garden District section of New Orleans and accessible by the St. Charles Streetcar, as well as by car. By streetcar from Downtown or Uptown, get off at the Washington Ave. or Sixth St. stops. Walk one block towards the river and enter at either the Washington Ave. or Sixth St. gates.

Safety: Lafayette Cemetery is one of the safest cemeteries in the city. The efforts of the Project, the community, families, as well as law enforcement, have been coming together to help reclaim and protect what our city's historical dynamics represent.

As in any city, exercise caution and research your destinations before traveling into unknown areas. Minimize the number of belongings you carry when walking our streets and stay aware of your surroundings. It is safe to visit alone, although enjoying your visit with friends will enhance the experience. This site will help you to understand more about what New Orleans' cemeteries are all about.
