Well where does one start?

Our humble Greetings to each & everyone young & old, hope all is well.
This is our little side of the story of RasTa in Aotearoa...

....Well I guess I'll start from where I heard the sound. I think it was back in 77-78 when I first heard Bob Marley & The Wailers, and I think thats how it started for most of the masses in Aotearoa, it was all new back then and probably was all over the globe except where it came from.

It wasn't just the music, or the ganja, or the dreadlocks, it is the message in the music that was sung, about unity, to come together in one harmony and one love, and as far as music went on this side of the globe, we never heard messages like that on music before.

And for me I could relate to some of the messages I heard from his songs, even some songs like 'EXODUS' movements of JaH people, 'FOREVER LOVING JAH' of the 'Uprising' album.
And the song 'WAR' check those lyrics, It is a speech by His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Sellassie I the King of Kings.
...Until the colour of a mans skin is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes, that until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race...etc...peace could never be attained..
An excerpt from speech to the United Nations Oct.6th.1963.

And Bob's album's are mega packed with messages some are parables linked to the bible, like 'Whosoever diggeth a pit, shall fall in it': and sayings like;'Sun shall not smite me by day, nor the moon by night, if everything that I do is upful and right.'
Y'know food for the spirit.

After Bob niced it up @ Western Springs after being refused the first time, because of the ganja, so they say, that was it for me, I wanted to know more.
People in the third world started calling him the prophet of God, maybe he was in a way, coz the scripture says we are all prophets, priests and kings.

Now Bob was always talkin' bout H.I.M Emperor Haile Sellassie I, for instance the live album 'Babylon by Bus'...First track, you hear the crowd buzzing and then a roar of screams of excitment etc, and then Bob says, 'Greetings in the name of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Sellassie I the first'...
...Crowd gose crazy, you can just hear someone in the crowd shouting out 'Ras Ta FarI' @ the top of his lungs, and then Bob says, 'Everliving, everfaithful, eversure....Sellassie I the first...RasTaFarI...RasTaFarI' and the Reggae begins to smash down the oppressor with Music.

Now I'm not here to tell who or what is right and wrong, just another insight to RasTa in Aotearoa, or prehaps the world? lol.

Bob Marley and the Wailers, and the music(not Us) are responsible for the x-amount of people back then, and even now,18yrs on, after his death, for being influenced by the ways and sounds of the RasTaFarian.

On further investigation We found that Robert Nesta Marley(real name) is/was a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel in Jamaica, a leading organization of RasTaFarians all over the world.
And believe it or not they read the King James Version Bible, One chapter a Day, starting @ Genesis 1 till they finish @ Revelation 22.

We also found that RasTa is not just smoking Ganja, bumming around listing to Reggae all day and night.
But RasTaFarians have to educate themselves in all aspects of living...Check this excerpt from His Majesty an address to students, Sept.23rd 1963.
'Education develops the intellect; and the intellect distinguishes man from other creatures. It is education that enables man to harness nature and utilize her resources for the well being and improvement of his life. The key for the betterment and completeness of modern living is education.'


So InI is here to help put an understanding to the RasTa movements in Aotearoa.
