I worked in the Barracks and was an IS wantabe. With the help of a few friends IS1 RJ Parish and IS1 "Rocky" Rockefeller, I as able to cross rate. I am now an ISCS stationed at COMNAVSPECWARCOM until January 03, then off to Joint Intelligence Training Activity, Pacific (still in San Diego). Would love to hear from some old friends.

Information: Enjoyed the distinction of being stationed at Kami for THREE tours of duty. My first tour was right out of NTTC Pensacola from 1969 to 1972. My next tour was from 1979-82 and my last tour, when I retired, was from 1985-1989. I thoroughly enjoyed all of my tours in Japan. I immersed myself in the culture, learned how to speak and write the language, and landed a job upon retirement with L.L. Bean, Inc. as a Japanese interpreter with the title "Japan Product Information Specialist". I brought back with me to the United States not only pleasant thoughts of Japan but my Japanese wife, Junko, with whom I've been married to for over 30 years. I went back to Japan in 1998, went to Atsugi NAF, but never got the chance to see what Kami looks like now. I'll make it a point to check it out the next time I get the opportunity to venture that way.

Arriving about 1 month after the Pueblo was captured and leaving in Jan 71. Left as CTT2. I have lots of sked pictures from Chinatown and 4 1/2 street in Yokohama. Thanks Marty Chiller!

Information: Army Security Agency Kamiseya. I was detached from the 12th USASA Field Station in Chitose on the northern island. The Navy and Army cooperated quite a bit as the Navy had a detachment at Chitose at the time. Our detachment was concerned with radio direction finding and shared a site with the Navy and as I remember it, it was one large dark room. As I think that the Navy and Army exchanged detachments between Kami and Chitose and there is a reunion outfit from the 12th USASA Field Station that has Navy personnel on its membership list and in case you don't have it here is the web site and contact person for that group.

Other: Still consider Kami the best place I have ever been stationed. Was part of the DECOM crew. Remember the crazy nights in Roppongi with Sean, Brian, Austin, Mike and Derek. And I'll never forget the "BINGE" before everyone started leaving. Anybody who remembers me, pop me an email.
