Name: Daniel T. SerenaRate/Rank Other: I was at Kami Seya from April 1970 until April 1973 China Town was my hangout. Club Babydoll was the #1 bar at that time. Changed from R branch to A branch half way through my time there. Lt Commander Fassett was the base CO during the last year and a half I was there. I now live in a little town 35 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, PA the town is named East Vandergrift, PA. Would love to hear from any of my old mates and even the Marines that were there at that time. Name: Norm Kitchin Rank: SSG (E6) US Army Dates at Kami Seya: 1959-1963 E-Mail Address: nekvegas@cox.net Information: Established a US ASA DF Detachment at Kami Seya in late 1959. Detachment worked along side the sailors and marines at the HFDF site utilizing the same equipment. Also took 5 personnel TAD to establish a US ASA DF Detachment site at NSGD-Adak due to the success of the Kami Seya location in 1961. The duty, liberty, and great chow at the dining facility at Kami Seya were better than any the Army had to offer at that time. Captain Smith was the CO of Kami Seya during my tour there which ended in August of 1963. I went on to retire with 30 years of Army service in 1984. I was very fortunate to spend my final 3 years of service at Camp Zama, Japan as a Command Sergeant Major. This assignment allowed me to visit Kami Seya many times to visualize the good memories of that duty station. After my military retirement I became a Navy civilian employee with the Navy Finance Center, located at Cleveland, Ohio, until it became the Defense Finance and Accounting Center. During this period 1985-1997, I was the Center's Telecommunications and COMSEC Officer. It seems more of my time was spent with the Naval Service than with the Army. In 1997 an early out was available so I took the plunge for retirement as a GM-13 and relocated to the great city of Las Vegas, Nevada. Name: Robert Rabideau Rate/Rank at Kami: CTO2 Dates at Kami: May 1979 - May 1982 E-mail Address: rabideaus@charter.net Other Information: My wife, Stephanie, and I truly enjoyed our experiences in Japan. KamiSeya was a great base to be stationed at. We have been able to keep in touch with a few other friends and families that we spent lots of time with at Kami. Stephanie returned to Japan for a visit in 1999. The whole area around the back gate road had changed so much, with all the beautiful cherry trees. It was almost hard to picture the old dirt roads that we used to travel on to get to our house in Yamato! Thanks for taking the time to organize this site!
