Retired CTO1(SW/AW) in JAN05 and have been working as an EKMS Manager at NAS North Island ever since - still in the crypto business supporting the Fleet! First child born at Camp Zama Hospital 1964. Great bunch of people in all divisions and life friendships were made. There were some outstanding officers there at the time, but one hero stands out in my memories, Ens. Moody, a hero that died in the fire.
Still irritated over "fitness program", shower, clean uniform, then go out in the parking lot at the tunnel and jump up and down and other goofy gyrations, then sweaty and dirty for the work day.

Name: Kent M Yates, USMC.
Dates at Kami: Served in Marine Barracks Atsugi NAS 64-66 assigned to Marine Guard unit Kamiseya most of that time.
Information: Was off duty when the alarm went up of the fire in Bldg.25. Helped get SSgt Rodriquez out and Paul Arcand attempted to revive him. I tried to reach "Recon" McKown, but the heat was too intense. I still have bronchial problems from that. I wrote the memorial poem ( http://www.navycthistory.com/forbes_kamiseyan_8.html ) published on the back of the Kamiseyan memorial edition and read at the memorial service. Chaplain Jenkins asked me to change the word in the phrase "flaming death note" to 'tragic'. It was surely tragic. It was flaming to me because I almost bought it. Anyone else PTSD?
