Headline: Aural Innovations covers Rick extensively

Story:

The Aural Innovations website that's run by Jerry Kranitz did a very cool piece on Rick in the new issue, issue #17, out Oct. 2001. It's a review of all the CD's from Abnormal Road to Manipulated D.N.A.,(Insanity Flies wasn't out yet), and an interview. Jerry did an amazing job. This guy understands Rick's music thoroughly. He brings things up that Rick was trying to convey with his music that no one else in any reviews has mentioned, except maybe George's reviews at the European Progressive Rock Reviews and Phil Jackson in his article "Rick Ray, a man and his music" that appeared in quite a few magazines, they are about the only one's who really get it. Not that there hasn't been other good reviews, I'm talking about really getting in depth. Anyway, you can see for yourself, go to http://www.aural-innovations.com/issues/issue17/rickray2.html  .

Headline: Overview of Rick '99 '00 '01 '02

Story:

Rick had quit playing live for a while after a gig in the Flats of Cleveland w/Riot Act in May of '96. It was time to write songs and record them. Well, after a return to Riot Act to record "Maniacal Disastrophe Tour", Riot Act got the opening spot for Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush at the Odeon 7/26/00. The next summer Rick again got the opening spot for Frank (8/10/01) only this time w/The Rick Ray Band (Paul Geltch-Drums, Gary Wood-Bass and Vocals, Rick Schultz-Reeds and Mr. Ray on Guitar and Vocals). Then The Rick Ray Band obtained the opening spot for Robin Trower. Then The Rick Ray Band played the "Strange Daze Festival" at the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern with not only bands from all over the world, but the audience was from all over the world also. Then comes the Live From Cleveland Show with Marty on WRUW 91.1 FM and the band did a one hour concert over the air. So, this activity got Rick playing live again.

Philcan be contacted directly through email at phil@paradoxone.co.uk  or go to his website www.paradoxone.co.uk  . I think his new one is great. His first album reminded me of Keith Emerson and Tomita a bit. This one doesn't bring any artist to mind, but sends chills down your spine. Phil is excellent.
