Within any ministry, there are those who are in need of ministry and those who God uses to meet that need. At Gay Christian Outreach, we have numerous ministry opportunities available for members who wish to make a formal committment to join our ministry team. There are different types of roles a member can apply for. Here's a list of just some of the ways you can become more actively involved within the ministry at GCO:

• Message Board Moderators - GCO's Message Board Moderators work under the direction of our Message Board Leader to ensure our message boards remain a safe and welcoming place. Moderators also endeavor to bring lively new discussion topics to our message boards and to keep existing topics fresh. In addition, Moderators seek to encourage truly meaningful discussions that go beyond just the surface of issues, while not forgetting that we all need time for some "fun and games" as well.
• Bible Study Ministry - We're looking for someone to become our Bible Study Ministry Leader. This will be an intelligent, educated person working to bring new, regular Bible studies to GCO's Bible Study message board and then help moderate the study discussions. In addition, the Bible Study Ministry Leader will help coordinate Bible studies via "live" chat discussions. We're also looking for several well educated, intelligent people who would be willing to contribute original Bible studies on a regular basis.
• Chat Hosts & Small Group Chat- Chat Hosts are people who can host 'general chat' at regularly scheduled times. Small Group Chat hosts are similar to other Chat Hosts with the exception that their regularly scheduled chats are targeted toward a specific small group or topic (i.e. Women's Chat, HIV/AIDS Chat, Gay but Celibate Chat, U.K. Chat, etc.). Both sets of Hosts definitely need to have the gift of gab and the ability to get others chatting.
• Prayer Ministry Leader/ Prayer Team - We need one person willing to coordinate new and current prayer programs, as well as coordinate with leaders from other ministries to join together with them in prayer. We also need to establish a committed group of people who believe in the power of prayer and are willing to devote time praying for the ministry of GCO and its members. The Prayer Team will also follow up on specific prayer requests as necessary.
• Regular or One-Time Featured Content (a.k.a. Special Contributors) - It's our hope that Gay Christian Outreach can become a hub of useful and entertaining resources for GLBT Christians and people interested in learning more about faith and sexual orientation. We welcome short stories, cartoons, editorials, essays, poetry, photo essays and just about any other creative expression that is relevant to gay Christians.
• Web Design & Management - GCO needs experienced volunteers to assist our Information Services Director with website design and construction. We're looking for folks with advanced experience in one or more of the following: XHTML & CSS, PHP, MySQL, Mambo CMS, Simple Machines Forums and Flash.
• Gathering / Get Together Hosts - In 2005, it's our hope that Gay Christian Outreach will see an explosion in the number of informal member gatherings (local events with an informal schedule) and more organized "Official" GCO Get Together's (regional events with planned activities). We all treasure the fellowship we experience through GCO's Message Boards and chat, but nothing can take the place of time spent together in person. If you're good at hosting, considering putting together a Gathering or Get Together.
• Newsletter Coordinator - Gay Christian Outreach seeks to publish a regular newsletter via e-mail, sent once a week or once every two weeks, that includes highlights of popular message threads, new members and other information about the ministry of GCO.
• Regular Online Participation - The key to any online community is building an ever larger core of regularly active members. We can see the ministry of Gay Christian Outreach grow by leaps and bounds if we all take just a few minutes out of each day to add to a message board discussion or drop into the chat room. You can also invite others to join.
• Fund Raising Campaign Coordinator & Grant Writing Coordinator - We are looking for individuals experienced in organizing fund raising campaigns and grant writing, particularly for non-profit organizations if possible, to assist GCO in as we raise capital for GCO's general fund and special projects (such as The Rick Harrison Memorial Fund).
• General Needs - As Gay Christian Outreach continues to grow, so do our financial needs. We have the daily expenses of simply running a ministry and several ambitious projects planned that will require financial resources. In addition, we have the brand new Rick Harrison Memorial Fund devoted to HIV/AIDS awareness and education as well as care of those already infected. You can make a donation to our general fund or the Rick Harrison Memorial Fund today.
• Prayer Support - Finally, and most importantly, Gay Christian Outreach seeks your prayers. Please take a moment each day to pray for GCO, for our Leadership Team, and for our members.
