GRIFFITH FAMILY
Alexander GRIFFITH (born c1790) & his wife Jane SOMMERFIELD SUMMERFIELD (born c1794) were small peasant farmers who lived in County Tyrone Ireland. They had atleast 4 children (possibly 7) and were both Protestants.
They may have been descendants of the Scottish and Welsh peasants who settled in Ireland. Both Griffith and Griffin were used in early records. The children of Alexander and Jane migrated from Ireland to Australia and some may have went to the USA.
Alexander is listed in the Griffith Land Records as having property in
the Parish of Dromore - townland Cornamuck which is not too far from Dromore and Drumquin. His daughter Mary Fleming (nee) Griffin was at Drumquin in 1854.
