Model boats of all types.  Right now I'm into sail and electric. I'm running the following:

1. 1/16 scale, scratch built, 65' MKIII Patrol Boat. ( 3) Speed 600  BB motors, 12V.  Working 40MM cannon that fires 22cal blanks.

2.  1/144 scale, scratch built,USS SAIPAN LHA-2.  Working anchor, elevator. helo, whistle, radars, overboard discharge.  6 foot long.

3.  1 meter kit sailboat "SEAWIND"  Excellent boat!

4.  " STAR 45" scratch built sailboat. Beautiful and fun!

5.  3 foot, scratch built, river"PUSHER" boat.  3 working water monitors. (little man pees over the side).

6.  18 inch version of above. No water monitors or little man.

7.  1/12 scale, scratch built, model of Navy MINI ATC 36' .  Has working water jets, ramp and lights.
.
8.  Electric "CRACKERBOX"

9.  1/12 scale, scratch built,  model of Navy Admiral's 40' Barge. In progress.

10. 1/16 scale model, scratch built navy lcm-8, in progress. Now finished and looking good.

Building a 1/8 scale M1A2 Abrams tank that will shoot paintballs. 3/4 completed. The Abrams is finished and everything worked. The suspension system sucked so I have changed it to encapsulated coil springs. I am now working on an "Ontos". It's a tracked vehicle 12,5 feet long and 8.5 feet wide. Has 6 105 MM recoilless rifles. My hardest project yet as reliable dimensions and angles are constantly conflicting. If and when I finish the Ontos I plan to build a 1/16 model of a PTF "Nasty class" boat.

Hi, I'm Rich Warder, and I live in Suffolk, Va. I started building Radio Control Models in 1985 . When the Navy brought back into commission the Battleships, I said to myself , I've got to have a model of a Battleship! I had no idea of how I was going to build it or any plans! But I did have some pictures of Battleships and I did have some ship building experience in the Navy. I got some pine shelving wood and cut each board to conform to the shape of a BB. After many months of cutting and sanding I had something that resembled a BB hull. I had Sore and cut fingers, but I kept on and put all the motors and electronics in and put it in the "POND" in South Norfolk and it ran!!! Was I elated! After a month I thought I need a Carrier to run with the BB. So I started another hull using the same techniques from the BB, only this time I had PLANS! After I finally got the hull finished, and more sanding done, I said there has to be an easy method of building wood hulls! I found a book on model boats in a Hobby Store and there was the answer to my boat hull Construction. The CV, was the Coral Sea and it ran sea trials just fine! The rest is history as I have since built 5 more model ships using the plank on frame methodand currently have a WW II Liberty Ship under construction which should be ready this summer!  Some of the other models I have are a WW II LST,  WW II Troop Transport ship and a WW II cv, the Lexington. I had the carrier Forrestal but Decommissioned it four years later with a saber saw and converted it into 5 different deck configurations interchangeable that fit on the hull, a cargo deck, tanker deck, great lakes ore carrier, a container ship and another type cargo ship.

I'm retired Navy, so I tend more toward military ships (though not exclusively.) My small squadron currently includes:

USS INDIANAPOLIS (CA 35), 1/144th scale WW2 heavy cruiser built on a Swampworks USS HOUSTON hull with a scratchbuilt superstructure. Fitted with working anchor windlass, nav lights, searchlights and a "Kingfisher" floatplane. My model approximates her appearance when she was lost to the Japanese submarine I-58.

USS MELVIN (DD 680) 1/125 scale FLETCHER class destroyer. One of the Lindberg Blue Devil models, I decided to keep the name chosen by Lindberg after looking up MELVIN's war record. One report I read credited her with sinking Battleship IJN FUSO in the Battle of Surigao Strait. This is a relatively unmodified kit except for the 2 channel R/C gear and navigation lights.

USS HAZELWOOD (DD 531), another "Blue Devil" is a "spare parts" ship, built with left over parts and major portions of scratchbuilt superstructure, she is heavily kitbashed into an updated FLETCHER "FRAM-can", circa 1959, including flight deck and "DASH" hanger, ASW torpedo tubes and hedgehog launchers, new mast and antennas. Equipped with 2 channel R/C and nav lights. Single rudder vs the twin set inaccurately included in the kit. All but the last 6 FLETCHERs were single rudder ships.

MV MARTHA A., a freelanced 1/50 scale ocean going tug built up from a LATINA "AMSTERDAM" hull, scratchbuilt superstructure and drive train. Single screw with Kort nozzle/rudder seem to give this one good maneuverability and pulling power. Eventually will have working water monitors and interior/exterior lights.

MV ANN, a freelanced work boat kitbashed from a Lindberg Tuna Clipper. One of our smallest boats at 14" long. A popular boat with the kids. I didn't know it shouldn't be possible to make this one into an R/C craft, so I did.
