The Scale Modeling Society of North Carolina's Research Triangle Area

Who Are We?

IPMS/Eagle Squadron is non-profit organization and a chartered chapter of IPMS, or more formally the US Branch of the International Plastics Modeler's Society.  The purpose of IPMS/Eagle Squadron is to promote interest in the hobby and art of scale modeling, by providing a forum for scale modelers in the Triangle area.

We seek members at all levels of skill, and of all ages. Whether you are a neophyte modeler or an expert, you are welcome. Whether you simply want to learn techniques to improve the models that you build solely for your own enjoyment, or if you want to compete in model contests, Eagle Squadron should have something for you.  We love visitors!

Our regular meetings usually consist of a "Show and Tell" of recent projects either underway or completed. We often have technique demonstrations and/or guest speakers.

When do we meet?

Eagle Squadron welcomes anyone with an interest in scale modeling. We meet at 1:30 pm on the third Sunday of each month, unless it conflicts with a holiday.  Click on the Meeting Schedule tab to the left to see the upcoming meeting dates and agenda.

Where do we meet?

Our home base is classroom 126A in the Engineering Tech buidling on the campus of Wake Technical Community College.

How do I get to Wake Tech?

Heading east on I-40 in Raleigh, take exit 298A (the exit sign reads "401-70-50 Fayettville Garner") and turn right onto highway 70/401.  Take this road for about one and half miles, staying in the right lanes.  Highway 401 forks to the right, with an exit sign that reads "401 Fuquay-Varina Fayetteville Wake Tech Col."  Proceed on Highway 401 for another seven miles until you come across the Wake Tech campus (9101 Fayetteville Road) on the left.  Turn left onto Tech Road, which is the first street past the stoplight in front of Wake Tech.  Proceed on Tech Road to the very back of the campus, and turn left into Parking Area F.  Since we meet on Sundays, the only cars in the parking lot usually belong to Eagle Squadron members.  After parking, enter the walkway from the parking lot.  The Engineering Tech building (painted white) will be on your left and Ready Hall (in brick) on your right.  About 100 meters directly ahead, the white double doors of classroom 126A will be at the end of the walkway.
