The Bahariya Dinosaur Project -
and other Lamanna Digs
Matt Lamanna wass a Vertebrate Paleontology graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania and a colleague of mine. He reports on his research and his paleontological expeditions throughout the world (Montana, Argentina and Egypt) and produces info on these digs on his website. Well done with marvelous photography.
Now a Curator at the Carnagie Museum in Pittsburgh, I will update this link when I have an updated Lamanna website.

This is one of the primier dinosaur web sites maintained today. You'll find a multitude of dino info, an Art Gallery (Check out my stuff!), a Guest Book with a an opportunity to ask questions and a prompt response to all of your infinite dino minutia, An unparalleled Information section that includes: Genus index, Classification, Search forms, World Records, and Dinosaurs of the year. Also included are Special Topics with Ages of the Mesozoic, Paleo Maps, Anatomy, Non-Dinosaurs, Glossery and FAQ. Other Features include: Dinosaurs by Continent, Details on..., as well as an exhaustive listing on Paleo Links and Books. Mike I am jealous! But I am also happy to see such a marvelous site for paleo-info. Keep up the great work and I give you my highest recommendation!

Dinosaur National Monument:
In Utah & Colorado: A museum and a dig all in one!
The Landscape:
The canyons around the river junction form the centrepiece of the Dinosaur National Monument, although almost all visitors come for the other main attraction - a steep cliff face, now enclosed within a large building, with hundreds of large fossilised dinosaur bones. This dinosaur 'quarry' is close to the Green river, 6 miles from US 40 near Vernal. For 50 miles north and east, the land becomes mountainous and a large area of colourful canyons and ridges is protected within the monument boundary although there are only a few access roads to several viewpoints. As with most National Parks, entrance fees were dramatically increased in 1997, from $5 to $10 at Dinosaur, as part of a national programme to modernise and extend visitor facilities.
The Quarry:
The approach to the monument from the southwest is dominated by Split Mountain, a rocky peak that really does look as if it has been recently cleaved by some great force - many twisted strata are exposed. At Jensen, a turn off leads to the west section of the monument. The quarry building is located a quarter of a mile from the entrance road (149) at the edge of the Split Mountain foothills. Space is limited, so during the busy summer months visitors are encouraged to park on the main road and walk up the slope. A free shuttle bus is provided for those unwilling to make the short trip on foot. The quarry was the source of the largest single collection of bones from the Jurassic period ever found.

Charley Parker's Dinosaur Cartoons:
http://www.dinosaurcartoons.com/
This PaleoArt website is
highly recommended
to all of the fossil and dino fanatics who have even a modicum of a sense of humor. (I'm assuming that you all do!) The following compilation of dino cartoons, the funniest this side of "
The Far Side
", are gathered on artist Charley Parker's site. It is entitled, appropriately enough, "
Dinosaur Cartoons
". I recommend it pronto!

Oliver Wing's creation, a list about non-commercial vertebrate fossil digs world-wide which offer the possibility to join in the excavationteam.
This list is primarily for students looking for cheap (you can even earn some money at some digs!) and interesting internships as well as for museums and universities looking for help with their projects.
Oliver would be happy to add more excavations to this webpage. Especially international digs - right now the majority are located in Germany.

Luis Rey, one of the outstanding Paleoartists of our time, created this web page. Luis says: "My long-neglected website is finally being rehashed a bit with some new work and articles (more controversy... I will never disappoint on that!), many of whom will be featured in the forthcoming "Dinosaurs, A Field Guide" by Henry Gee and myself." He has also included a new 'summary' article concerning the origin of flight and feathers. Click on the "What's New Section".

The
Ten Bits Ranch
is proud to offer a one-of-a-kind research experience as part of our ongoing collaboration with paleontologist, Dr. Tom Lehman of Texas Tech University. Twice a year, we offer an exceptional opportunity for select groups to participate in actual field research and excavation of 75 million year old, Cretaceous dinosaur and reptile fossils. These 3-day long seminars include a geologic tour of Big Bend National Park, a half day, field techniques lecture conducted by Dr. Lehman as well as a full day and a half of excavation supervised by experienced paleontologists.
