This was the fourth time this event was held in the Malcolm Knapp U.B.C. Research Forest. The weather was unseasonably warm and many participants were in shorts on this balmy albeit drizzly day.
Advertized as “an unorganized non-event” runners simply arrive between 8 and 9 am, pick up a map, find someone to run with and head out keeping their own time. The 25 Km loop can be run in either direction allowing runners to see each other along the way.
The Research Forest is a gem of lakes creeks and hills tucked at the base of the Golden Ears Range. Used for forest management study the Forest is interlaced with a network of service roads which make for great running as no vehicles or bikes are allowed.
