Basquiat: a classic in its own time

Starring:
Jeffrey Wright as Jean-Michel Basquiat
David Bowie as Andy Warhol
Dennis Hopper as Bruno Bischofberger, art dealer

the summary
An excellent film, Basquiat was a deeply-moving and well-orchestrated piece of work. Basquiat is filmed through the bohemian eyes of a struggling African-American graffiti artist of New York City, Jean-Michel Basquiat. Strategically placed avant-garde images are distributed throughout the film, making this an even more interesting film.
Julian Schnabel has done an excellent job of recreating the exciting early 80's art scene of New York. Jeffrey Wright does a wonderful job portraying Jean-Michel, as does David Bowie with his portraying Andy Warhol. The physical differences are next to nothing!
Basquiat is pretty much an art flick but can be enjoyed by a wide variety of audiences. The scene of Basquiat mourning Warhol's death is very touching and deep. I rate this film three out of four stars!
