Why Be Part of CARE?

The "Congregational Association of Religious Expression" or CARE, is an international Spiritualist association and has been granted perpetual incorporation and tax exempt status by the United States government. With this recognition CARE has the full legal authority that any other recognized religious organization may have.

CARE and other modern Spiritualist and Spiritist groups in all countries share the same historical facts. We all trace our beginnings to the happenings at Hydesville and we all share the same basic beliefs.

CARE offers church and camp charters to qualified applicants. These chartered auxiliaries are considered tax exempt entities because of the parent non-profit group tax exemption status. This tax advantage benefits each chartered church and camp entity because the parent organization (CARE) provides detailed reports to the government, relieving the local auxiliary of that duty.

CARE also offers direct individual membership for those desiring involvement above the local auxiliary level.

CARE offers testing and certification in several areas, including ministerial, educational, mediumship, and healing. The ministerial credentials are legally recognized for performing marriages and other related ministerial duties.

Membership in CARE has certain and definite advantages. The opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with Spiritualists around the world is one of the most obvious and perhaps the most valuable advantages. How else can one keep up with new ideas and facts that have surfaced? Teachers from such organizations share their knowledge and often conduct workshops and seminars for the auxiliaries.

Now many other established and recognized Spiritualist groups also offer much of what was stated above. So, based on these facts, why select CARE for your membership?

The name says it all - CARE!

CARE is the organization structured for modern thinking Spiritualists in the new millennium and presents ideas and concepts that belong in today's world!

CARE standards are higher than most and have surpassed those of older groups that may have become stagnant with older teachings and methods. For example, CARE will be offering training and certification for platform speakers. While this may be already offered in parts of the United Kingdom, it is a first for the USA.

In an effort to reduce potential bureaucracy, CARE does not include state associations in its organizational structure. This means that any contact by an auxiliary is directly with the CARE parent.

CARE is progressive!

CARE has decided against the hierarchical structure in favor of the more visionary congregational organization, allowing our members true religious freedom. This means that there can never be any claims against any properties or assets obtained or received by our members.

It also means that you have the right to worship in the manner that best suits your understandings, and in different ways. Yes, CARE understands and accepts that a person may wish to keep their membership in another group or denomination, while still accepting Spiritualist teachings.

CARE allows true religious freedom, which means that a person may worship as they choose, not as some organization dictates they must do on an exclusive basis. Our logic for this was the answer to the very simple questions, "Is there only one way to worship God?" and "If not, then how many ways are there?" Of course the answer is that there is no limit!

Since we respect the truths in all religions, this provides the opportunity to share any and all truths that become evident in other religions.

We choose not to isolate our members, but instead to allow and even encourage association with others.

CARE continues to believe that in this millennium the old timeworn and restrictive practices are no longer appropriate. Of course CARE is not alone in such a philosophy, and we believe that it is not necessary to maintain such a tight hold on our members.

As part of the CARE teachings we state that "Spiritualism respects all religions, valorizes all efforts towards the practice of goodness and recognizes that a true person of goodness is one who fulfills the laws of justice, love and charity in their greatest form of purity."

CARE teaches that a Spiritualist can be of any race, religion or nationality. In fact, Spiritualism does not belong exclusively to Spiritualists! Spiritualism shows everyone the truth concerning Body, Mind and Spirit.

Truth and clarity are CARE's objectives. An example of this is the term "Infinite Intelligence" which most Spiritualists understand as their term for God, or The Supreme Creative Force. CARE's First Declaration simply states that "We believe in God, which we often refer to as Infinite Intelligence". A simple and direct solution to something that has confused many people for countless years.

The definitions of Spiritualism and a Spiritualist have been clarified to properly present a clear understanding of these titles to both the student and the inquirer.

CARE teaches that Spiritualism is a science that analyzes facts, and offers a philosophy that explains the reasons for life. It takes the ethical view, and is therefore a religion that frees us from ignorance and brings us closer to God.

CARE teaches that a Spiritualist is a person who believes that when the spirit leaves the physical expression of life it does not cease to exist but progresses to the Spirit World where it continues to progress and evolve spiritually. Further, that there is contact between those in the Spirit World and those still in the physical world, through mediumship.

CARE's symbol for Spiritualism is the Infinity symbol.  The Infinity symbol's meaning is clear, direct and easy for anyone to understand. It easily and clearly identifies continuous and eternal life, which is the primary teaching of Spiritualism. For without continuous life, what meaning do any of the other teachings have?

CARE offers membership to the international community, affording us the opportunity for a much broader experience in Spiritualism.

CARE is affiliated with the International Spiritualist Federation (ISF) which further broadens our exposure and communications.

COMING SOON:  A new educational course for our members and other potential students has been under development by CARE. This exciting course addresses the new millennium with a refreshing and realistic understanding of facts and beliefs. All of the goals have been carefully considered and the course is being structured appropriately. It contains facts that have been determined to be important to our ministry, and strives for up-to-date accuracy.

Much research has already gone into this and as we progress, we continue our detailed and thorough investigation and documentation of the facts.  Assisting in these efforts are several recognized educators with strong academic backgrounds. Their involvement will help us in our efforts to structure the course so that college level credit can eventually be obtained. At this time and with the current progress being made, the course is targeted for completion in the summer of 2001.

CARE is of course, still in its formative stages so there is much work being done. We have however, already begun accepting tax-deductible donations and membership applications for both direct membership and auxiliary charters.

Our membership listing is confidential, thereby eliminating the possibility of anyone using such information for his or her own purposes. However, if anyone would like their own personal information to be available to others, they may do so.

We are establishing mailing, telephone and Email lists, so if you wish to be included please contact us.
