and fill the remaining cup with water, this symbolises your emotional, mental and physical energy (we only have a limited amount): 
Decide in your mind how you would divide your energy between the four areas of your life. Now pour out your 'energy' according to how you decided but only after you have turned your Ex's cup upside down (for whatever reason they do not receive that energy):
