Mack Trout, BCHS '55. Obit from Ashtabula, Ohio, Star-Beacon, May 7, 2006CONNEAUT -- Merton "Mack" M. Trout Jr., age 69, of Conneaut, Ohio, died early Thursday morning, May 4, 2006, at the Hospice unit in Ashtabula County Medical Center. Mack was born August 4, 1936, in Yukon, West Virginia, a son of the late Merton and Molley (Smith) Trout. He graduated from Big Creek High School, and then attended the University of Kentucky on a four-year football scholarship. He had many full scholarship offers from major colleges that wanted him for his football talent. After 30 years of service as a Welder, he retired from RMI Sodium plant in Ashtabula. He was past Vice President of the Local union at RMI Sodium, and he served as the workers' compensation representative for the union. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Grotto Hall, and a member of the East Ashtabula Club; the Conneaut and Ashtabula Eagles; the Conneaut Moose; the Imps Club of the Grotto; El Kadir Grotto; the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge # 22; the VFW of Springfield, Pennsylvania; and the VFW of Sheffield. Mack enjoyed the outdoors and nearly all sports. He loved to travel to his cabin in the mountains, and spend time hunting and fishing with family and friends there. Mack also was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.Mack is survived by his son, Mitchell and Darlene Trout of Rome, Ohio; a brother, William and Doris Trout of Howe, Indiana; three sisters, Clara and Bob Marks of Ashtabula, Wanda and Norman Balcomb of Yuma, Arizona, and Anna and John Ginter of Florida; grandchildren, Paige Tyler Trout, and Ryan and Adam Trout; and his companion and dear friend of 14 years, Virginia Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Sue (Williams) Trout in 1992; his son, Mark Trout in 1996; two sisters, Mildred Brown and Penny Loomis; and two brothers, Samuel Trout and Noah Trout. Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 8, 2006, at the RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut, with the Reverend Robert Faoke of the Church of the Living God, Ashtabula, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday morning, at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
